Global Finance Director Travel Retail
Sok Mei is a reputed finance professional with two decades of experience gained from various Blue-chip multi-national companies.
Armed with a bachelor of Accountancy from the Nanyang Technological University, Sok Mei started her career in Procter & Gamble, where she harnessed her financial analysis skills. Moving on to British America Tobacco and Johnson & Johnson Medical, Sok Mei continued to build her finance competencies and developed professionally as she managed the businesses and changes through various roles, including pricing, financial reporting & analysis, commercial finance and strategic planning. A process champion, she was also a certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
In 2008, Sok Mei joined Shell as the Regional Finance Manager of the LPG business in Asia. She became a board member for 9 legal entities in the region, providing governance and oversight to the $900million business with a team of 60 staff. After a successful divestment of the LPG business in which Sok Mei played a pivotal role in staff management and transition, she moved on to manage the Chemicals operations for the region and led the global intercompany pricing process and spear-headed cost savings initiatives on a $600 million costs to serve.
In Nov 2012, Sok Mei joined Diageo as the Global Finance Director for the Travel Retail business unit, the global showcase of Diageo’s luxury products. Orchestrating through a $800 million business with global footprint and multitude of complexities, Sok Mei brings finance leadership to the business together with a team of 50 staff and 3 shared service centers, driving the strategic and commercial imperatives as well as leading the accounting and controlling agenda.
